BetterChat Privacy Policy

BetterChat is a Chrome extension that lets you share photos and GIFs in YouTube live chat. This policy explains what data is accessed and where it goes.

Single purpose

The only purpose of BetterChat is to upload images you choose and display those images in YouTube live chat for people who also have the extension.

Data we access on your device

• YouTube live chat content (locally): the extension reads chat message text in the page to detect image IDs and to insert the upload button. Chat messages are not sent to us and are not stored on our servers.
• Files you upload: when you pick, paste, or drop a photo or GIF, that file is sent to Greenbase so it can be shared in chat.
• Hide-list preference: if you right-click a photo and hide that user’s images, the preference is saved in your browser’s localStorage on YouTube. It stays on your device.

Data sent to third parties

Uploaded images are sent to greenbase.arielcapdevila.com (Greenbase) using POST /upload. The chat only receives a file ID, not the image URL. Other BetterChat users download the file with GET /file/{id} through the extension. We do not operate an account system and we do not receive your YouTube password.

We do not sell user data. Images are transferred to Greenbase only to provide the extension’s image-sharing feature.

What we do not collect

We do not collect names, emails, health data, payment data, passwords, location, or browsing history. We do not keylog, and we do not sell or use data for credit scoring or advertising.

Remote code

All extension JavaScript and CSS are included in the Chrome Web Store package. We do not load remote scripts or WebAssembly, and we do not use eval().
