Friends Chat Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 24, 2026

Friends Chat for Twitch & YouTube (“the Extension”) helps you filter live chat so you can focus on messages from yourself and people you mark as friends.

Data we collect

The Extension stores locally (using Chrome’s storage.sync / local storage):

• Friend usernames you add (Twitch and/or YouTube)
• Simple settings (extension enabled, Friends mode on/off, panel position)

This data stays in your browser account sync and is not uploaded to our servers.

Data we do not collect

• No analytics or tracking
• No chat message contents sent to remote servers
• No advertising identifiers
• No sale of personal data

How the Extension works

On Twitch and YouTube live pages, the Extension reads usernames visible in the chat interface in your browser to show, hide, or highlight messages. Processing happens on-device only.

Permissions

• storage — save your friend list and preferences
• Host access to twitch.tv and youtube.com — inject the Friends Chat UI and filter live chat on those sites

Third parties

The Extension does not send your data to third-party services.

Children

The Extension is not directed at children under 13.
